"S" is for Safety

This week for "s" week at preschool it was Safety Week. Local Law Enforcement was gracious enough to visit. All sorts of things come out of the wood work when little kids let go of their tongues. The teacher should really have this on video tape. Last year a little girl told the officer that her mom didn't like to use her blinker, because then her beer would spill while she was turning a corner. This year a little boy exclaimed that his dad lets him sit in the front seat and doesn't make him wear a seat belt, he just throws a coat over him when they see a cop. And it wouldn't be complete without a comment from Detton. The officer was talking about gun safety; how we should never point a gun at anyone even if they are just pretend, because sometimes we don't know if they are real or toy guns. Well of course Detton has to raise his hand and say,"But how do we shoot our brothers, if we can't point a gun at them?"

The officer must have made quite an impression, when I asked him if he knew who to call in an emergency he said, "I dial 911 to talk to the best policeman ever!"

The beer drinking mother is classic.
